Background
The data extraction specification is part of the eMED3 (Fit Notes) GPIT F standard that is part of the Recording Consultations Capability. Currently, only registered doctors are able to issue fit notes. At the moment, data is extracted from all GP systems once a week. This extract needs to be updated and amended to include the profession of the eMED3 form issuer. Therefore, the additional field "Issuer's Profession" needs to be added to the data extract. This will feed through into the published stats and enable evaluation on how many other health care professionals are issuing fit notes and from which professions.
Please note that this roadmap item is dependent on eMED3 - Widen access to the embedded eMED3 form becoming government policy.
Outline Plan
Changes cannot be fully implemented until the legislation to allow other Health or Care Professionals to issue the eMED3 form is successfully laid in Parliament. Suppliers are required to satisfy the assurance processes in advance of this date and be ready to go live for all system users on the date the changes become law.
