Outcomes

For a Health or Care Professional:

Supports the safety and wellbeing of Health or Care Professionals by sending Emergency Alerts to recipients that can be viewed and appropriate action taken.

For a Patient/Service User:

In the event of a medical emergency, a Health or Care Professional can send Emergency Alerts to call for assistance.

So that I can signal an emergency is taking place or assistance is required

Acceptance criterion 1: send an Emergency Alert

Given the Health or Care Professional is permitted to send Emergency Alerts

When the Heath or Care Professional selects to send an Emergency Alert

Then the Emergency Alert is sent

And all specified recipients are notified

  • The triggering of an Emergency Alert will not be obvious to the subject of the alert

  • The Emergency Alert can be sent to multiple recipients

    • A standalone device (e.g. physical button)

    • A handheld or wearable device

I want to view an Emergency Alert that indicates an emergency or that assistance is required

So that appropriate action to resolve the Emergency Alert can be taken

Acceptance criterion 1: view an Emergency Alert

Given the recipient is permitted to view Emergency Alerts

When an Emergency Alert is triggered

Then the Emergency Alert is displayed to all recipients

Acceptance Criterion 2: acknowledge an Emergency Alert

Given the recipient is permitted to acknowledge Emergency Alerts

When a recipient selects to acknowledge an Emergency Alert

Then the Emergency Alert is acknowledged

And all recipients are notified of the acknowledgement

Solutions MUST comply with the following when implementing this Epic:

  • The Emergency Alert to include the location and name of the triggering Health or Care Professional

  • If covering multiple locations, the Emergency Alert to also include the Health or Care Organisation location details

  • The notification of acknowledgement of an Emergency Alert will not be obvious to the subject of the alert

MAY Epics - Describes additional functionality associated with the Capability. Suppliers should consider all MAY Epics as part of their User Research. Suppliers can choose to map their Solutions to these Epics and they will be evaluated via Capability Assessment. Contracting Authorities or purchasing organisations may require these Epics as product qualification or requirements criteria

    • Where a Health or Care Organisation has multiple locations, each location’s alerts can be tested individually
