Ambulance - Standards
Standards are a set of guidelines that ensure the systems' interoperability, security, and compliance with national and international regulations, as well as clinical standards.
Clinical standards are a set of guidelines that ensure the EPR system meets the clinical needs of healthcare providers and patients and supports best practices in patient care such as SNOMED-CT coding.
In addition to clinical standards, the EPR system must adhere to technical and functional standards to ensure its overall effectiveness.
Standards in this section originate from the following areas;
Data Standards - NHS / Government - There are standards that are produced by an NHS or Government body, e.g. Data Alliance Partnership Board, Royal Colleges or Professional Records Standards Body
Data Standards - External Body - These are standards that are produced by external bodies e.g International Standards Organisation, W3C consortium
Guidance Standards - These standards are less defined than data standards and may not have defined acceptance criteria and are designed to give useful information for the implementation of an EPR system and good practice.
Within each secondary care setting a standard is categorised as an:
Overarching standard - These standards are overarching and apply to all requirements and user stories for this secondary care setting.
Context-Specific standard - These standards have been explicitly mapped to one or more requirements and user stories in the catalogue for this secondary care setting
Additional standard - These standards are not currently mapped directly to any specific requirements or user stories in the catalogue but may additionally apply in the context of other secondary care settings.
