  • Supporting and tracking the activities and progress associated with an assessment, recording the assessment and supporting the scheduling and alerting of care provider’s attendance at relevant stages (including at tribunal and court hearings where required)

  • Support for administrative processes around Section renewal/concurrent processes

Core Level Requirements

Description

The Mental Health Act (1983) is a government act that outlines certain mental health treatment guidelines including different routes of admittance and treatment against the patient’s will. This means that an EPR in the mental health setting has to be able to record the information required to be collected under the law. These user stories outline functions related to the administration of patients in accordance with the MHA.

MH-06.1 Mental Health Act Assessments

DCF Core Capability

As a Mental Health Professional,

I want to record, track and scrutinise assessments in accordance with Mental Health Act practices,

So that assessments can be recorded, scrutinised, reviewed and assessed.

Acceptance criteria 1:

Given a user has the correct permissions,

When a patient is being assessed in accordance to the Mental Health Act,

Then these assessments are added to the patient’s record.

MH-06.2 Alerts to Care Providers and MH Professionals

DCF Core Capability

As an Administrator,

I want to enable notifications to alert care providers that attendance is required at relevant stages in the MHA, including tribunals and court hearings

So that, they can plan their schedule accordingly and ensure attendance

Acceptance criteria 1:

Given the system is configured correctly,

When attendance of care providers is required at tribunals and court hearings,

Then a notification is sent to the care provider ahead of the scheduled event.

Generate alerts to care providers and Professionals of important milestones to allow scheduling and ensure care is delivered in a timely manner e.g.

MH-06.3 Mental Health Act Section Renewal

DCF Core Capability

As a Mental Health Professional,

I want to be able to administer concurrent tasks about section renewal,

So that efficient processes are achieved and section renewal is not restricted due to a linear system process.

Acceptance criteria 1:

Given the system is configured correctly,

When completing a section renewal for a patient,

Then the option to view and administer concurrent tasks is available.
