Description

Supports the effective and safe prescribing of medicinal products and appliances to Patients within the Detained Estate. Information relating to prescribable items will be available at the point of prescribing.

Outcomes

For a Patient:	Timely access and appropriate supply and possession of medicinal products and appliances.
For the Detained Estate:	Supports the prescribing of medicinal products and appliances that are appropriate and safe for the individual Patients and other Residents of the Detained Estate, improves Patient safety through access to information on the risk of potential adverse effects of medication, and ensures the appropriate supply and possession of medicinal products and appliances to individual Patients.

Solutions MUST comply with the following when implementing this Epic:

Pre-configured prescribable Items will adhere to SCCI0052 Dictionary of medicines and devices (dm+d)
Pre-configured prescribable items will include all products licensed under the Medicines Act:
- Prescription Only Medicines (POMs)
- Pharmacy Medicines (P)
- General Sales List (GSLs)
- Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances (ACBS) approved substances
- Items in part IX and part X of the Drug Tariff
For pre-configured prescribable items within the Drug Tariff, the information available will include:
- NHS price (e.g. pack price, which would necessitate display of pack size)
- NHS prescribing status and legal category at pack and formulation level
- Black Triangle status
- Indicate if the item is listed in Schedule 2 (SLS items - Part XVIIIB of Drug Tariff) and/or Schedule 1 (Blacklist items - Part XVIIIA of the Drug Tariff)
- Appliances currently listed in Part IX of Drug Tariff and which are prescribable on the NHS

Access controls to be present in order to differentiate between Users who are:
- Authorised to set up and issue new medication
- Not authorised to set up new medication, but allowed to issue repeat medication already authorised or batch issues connected to repeatable medication
