Important Information

Within this requirements catalogue we use the terms woman, women, and pregnant women. However, we recognise that some transgender men, non-binary people and people with variations in sex characteristics (VSC) or who are intersex may also access maternity services. Maternity services and delivery of care must therefore be appropriate, inclusive, and sensitive to the needs of everyone who accesses maternity services, including those who are trans, non-binary or intersex.

Capability M6.01

The solution must support the capturing of data in virtual settings (telephone and video) in both community and consultant clinic settings

M6.01.1 - Virtual Appointments

M6.01.1 - Virtual Appointments

DCF Core Capability

As a Health Care Professional

I want to be able to undertake telephone and video consultations, in both community and acute hospital settings, supported by the system with access to the clinical record in real time

So that I can be fully informed at the point of virtual care, able to record relevant data for care and national reports, and can ensure equitable care

Acceptance Criteria

Given that the Health Care Professional is permitted to add clinical information to a woman's record on the system

When there are virtual consultations (telephone and video) with a woman

Then the Health Care Professional will have real-time access to the woman's full health record during the virtual consultation

And the system will have logic inbuilt to ensure that the relevant questions are asked during virtual consultations and capture national data requirements

And the system will enable all details of the consultation and outcome to be recorded

And the system must support mobile devices that enable off site working. i.e. laptops or iPads

And the automated notifications and referrals will still be triggered during virtual consultations regardless of the location of the Health Care Professional

Capability M6.02

The solution should support 'virtual ward' style functionality to enable outpatient monitoring of groups of women with defined conditions such as hypertension, gestational diabetes and pre-term, pre-labour rupture of membranes. It should be locally configurable.

M6.02.1 - Support for Virtual Ward

M6.02.1 - Support for Virtual Ward

DCF Innovation Capability

As a Health Care Professional

I want to be able to offer outpatient monitoring for groups of women with defined conditions

So that I can safely support a woman to remain at home, undertaking self monitoring, with knowledge that the care team and Heath Care Professional has timely oversight of the recordings and can respond if needed to any signs of deterioration or cause for concern

Acceptance Criteria

Given that a woman can self monitor at home or in the community

When a Health Care Professional has oversight of self monitoring data on the system

Then the Health Care Professional will be able to view on the system, groups of women (i.e. a virtual ward) with defined conditions such as hypertension, gestational diabetes and pre-term, pre-labour rupture of membranes

And the system will enable the Health Care Professional to update the woman's clinical record without duplicating data input

And the Health Care Professional will be able to advise the woman via the system
