Background
As a result of the need to measure Appointment activity to determine achievement of the additional 50 million expected Appointments, there is a new requirement for General Practice System Suppliers (GPSS) to add Primary Care Network (PCN) organisations to the General Practice Appointment Data (GPAD) weekly extract.
PCN organisations have been added to the GPAD extract participation list incrementally as the governance has been agreed with each organisation. Many PCN’s gave approval to collect GPAD over the past 6 months. Because GPAD only starts collecting data once governance is agreed, this has resulted in a large number of PCN’s for which the Authority does not hold the full set of Appointment data for FY23-24. This will result in under-reporting the number of appointments for these organisations for FY23-24.
Outline Plan
Suppliers who have PCN Appointment books in scope for GPAD to modify their GPAD extract such that it can run for the circa 1200 PCN organisations to generate a GPAD dataset conforming to the existing output specification, but that rather than limiting to 30 days of historic data it must supply data from 1-Apr-23 up until the run date. The run-date will be as close as possible to (but not later than) 13-Nov-23.
Summary of Change
This change is applicable to GPAD Suppliers who have PCN Appointment books.
Existing GPAD extract to be modified to enable a single ad hoc collection of Appointments to include historic Appointments from 1st April 2023 up to the run-date. A participation list limited to PCN organisations will be supplied by the GPAD team.
The regular scheduled GPAD extracts will continue with no change to previously agreed runtime parameters.
